The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases continues to rise, as 74 new cases were recorded by the NCDC on Sunday. The NCDC said on its website on Monday morning that the additional 74 infections brought the total of infections in the country to 206,138.The public health agency added that the country recorded no new death from the virus, which had claimed 2,723 lives in the country. It noted that till date, 206,138 cases have been confirmed, 194,097 cases have been discharged and 2,723 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The agency also noted that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continued to coordinate the national response activities.     With the rapid rate of increase of Covid-19 in Nigeria their is a high tendency that the country will undergo another wave of lock down.

Couple arrested for k*lling, secretly burying their 28-yr-old son for being stubborn. [Swipe] One Mr Lambert Ukachukwu, his wife and daughter, have been arrested by police operatives in Imo State, after they allegedly connived and m*rdered their last child, identified simply as Chukwuebuka. The 28-year-old was allegedly k*lled on Saturday, September 17, 2021, for being stubborn and giving his family sleepless nights. It was gathered that he was reportedly h*t with a wood and was left to d*e, after which he was buried in a shallow grave close to his residence. Luck, however ran out of the culprits, who were confronted by the suspecting youths of Duruegwele community in Imo, about the whereabout of the deceased. The father had informed them that Chukwuebuka traveled to Ghana. But after pressing further and thre*ting to b*rn down the culprit's house, the daughter confessed to the crime. The Federal Government through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency has disclosed that so far 2, 897, 201 eligible persons had taken the jab across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The Executive Director, NPHCDA, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this on Tuesday, in Abuja, at the National Vaccines briefing. He said about three million people in Nigeria have received their complete dose of the coronavirus vaccine as of August 30, 2021. The country, which now has three COVID-19 vaccines that had been approved for emergency use by the World Health Organisation, had commenced its phase two vaccination in 35 states and the FCT, according to Shuaib. “For clients who have not had any vaccination, the Moderna Vaccine is available and is being administered currently in all designated health facilities in the country, while those who have had their first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine are encouraged to visit their designated health facility to get their second ...

Total Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Dr Samba Seye as the Managing Director of the firm. His appointment takes effect from Wednesday, September 1. The company made the announcement in a statement issued by its Country Communications Manager, Mr Charles Ebereonwu on Tuesday in Lagos. It says Seye is replacing Mr Imrane Barry who has been reassigned to Total Energies, SE Headquarters in Paris. Seye holds a doctorate in fluid mechanics from the University of Sciences and Techniques of Lille, France, where he worked as an assistant lecturer from 1990 until 1993.

No fewer than nine persons were in the late hours of Tuesday allegedly killed and scores injured by gunmen that attacked Bagana community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State. A resident, who survived by the whiskers and who did not want his name in print for the fear of being targeted by the militias, told our correspondent that the gunmen invaded a shop located in the heart of the village and killed four persons on the spot. He added that the attackers then went on a shooting spree in which many people who were running to escape were hit by stray bullets. The Plateau State main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said governor Simon Bako Lalong does not need the control of security agencies to curb killings in the State. The party’s spokesman, Emmanuel Go’or in a statement credited to the state Acting Chairman of APC, Enoch Fanmak, said that governor Lalong had done enough to stop killings in the state but for lack of direct control of the security agencies.  Mr Ahmed Muktar and two others have been arrested by the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for alleged abduction and rape of a 19-year-old girl. Parading the suspects on Tuesday in Lafia, the state Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Jerry Victor, explained that officers of the command arrested three of the suspects involved in the crime, while the fourth suspect was at large. The Public Relations Officer said, “Today, we are parading three suspects in connection with a case of abduction, molestation and rape.” He explained that a complainant came to their office concerning the case, which has to do with his daughter, adding that the incident concerns a driver, Ahmed Muktar, and his cronies. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has ordered another sit-at-home on September 14. IPOB’s Director of State, DOS, ordered the sit-at-home to remember those allegedly killed in Afaraukwu, Abia State in 2018 by Nigerian soldiers. The separatist group said that Nigerian soldiers had in 2018 desecrated the traditional stool of Afaraukwu. A statement by the Head of IPOB’s DOS, Chika Edozien, said the September 14 sit-at-home has been tagged “day of civil disobedience.” Edozien also reiterated IPOB’s commitement towards ensuring the actualization of Biafra. Recall that IPOB had declared sit-at-home every Monday, following the rearrest of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. However, the group reviewed the order to only when Kanu is expected to appear in court. Retired Nigerian Navy Commodore, Kunle Olawunmi who recently spoke about the sponsors of terrorism in Nigeria on live TV, has reported to the Military Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Abuja for questioning. Recall that the former Navy Officer had during an interview with Channels TV, made shocking revelations about the sponsors of terrorism in the country. Commodore Kunle had disclosed that some persons who were during his service, accused of having ties with terrorists, are part of the current administration. According to him, some of them are lawmakers while some are in Aso Rock.
